George’s death makes Meemaw’s life after the events of Young Sheldon more intriguing.

The Cooper patriarch’s fate has long been sealed after The Big Bang Theory

 established his death before the events of the nerd-centric sitcom started.

It was something that Young Sheldon couldn’t escape despite creating countless

plot inconsistencies. Before George’s death, there were theories that the prequel

would deviate from the canon, considering how beloved Sheldon’s father had become.

But the decision to end Young Sheldon despite its popularity was an indication that the writers were honoring the bigger narratives as part of The Big Bang Theory canon.

While The Big Bang Theory firmly established George’s death, it didn’t reveal any additional details about the circumstances around it. This allowed Young Sheldon to craft it in the way that would best serve its storytelling. In the end, George’s death happened off-screen. He had a heart attack while at work, leaving his co-workers to deliver the news to his family. To make things worse, the Coopers were in the process of preparing to take a family portrait as they got ready for some big changes coming their way. Missy and Mary’s response was expected, but Meemaw’s was surprising.Upon receiving the news of George’s death in Young Sheldon season 7, episode 12, “A New Home and a Traditional Texas Torture,” Meemaw was also visibly distraught over the news. She immediately provided support for both Missy and Mary, who were struggling to keep their emotions in check, and understandably so. While not technically a part of the core Cooper family, Connie Tucker has been a vital member of the clan over the years. Her relationship with George started frosty and contentious, but seeing how devastated she was over losing him highlighted how far their dynamic had come.

It’s safe to assume that Meemaw is inspired by her own experience of losing a husband while she supports Mary and her family amid this ordeal.

Considering the role that Connie plays during this crisis, not to mention her involvement in the Coopers’ lives since they moved to Medford, it’s curious what happened to her after Young Sheldon. While she appeared once and was referenced a couple of times, The Big Bang Theory didn’t reveal much about Memaw’s life beyond Young Sheldon. Adult Georgie also never mentioned her when sharing how Mary and Missy coped with the loss of George. Georgie and Mandy’s First Marriage has a chance to answer this question, and while she won’t be a regular, hopefully, CBS takes advantage of the opportunity.
