a role heāll celebrates 25 years of next year. Coronation Street star Andy Whyment
has ruled out appearing on Strictly Come Dancing like many of his former colleagues as
it would mean heād have to do something he doesnāt want to do.
The actor is no stranger to reality TV when not appearing on the ITV soap. Andy, who is best known for playing Kirk Sutherland, a role heāll celebrate 25 years of next year, has previously captured the hearts of the nation with appearances on Iām a Celebrity⦠Get Me Out of Here and Dancing on Ice.
After finishing runner-up in the Australian jungle back in 2019, Andy event had a second shot at the Ant and Dec-fronted show last year when he appeared in the showās first-ever spin-off, Iām A Celebrity⦠South Africa.
But the Salford-born star has now opened up on if he would ever set his sights on another show, away from the famous street. Speaking at the Sedulo Colour Ball in Manchester, Andy told Express.co.uk: āI love playing Kirk. Iāve always said Iāll stay at Corrie for as long as they will have me.ā
When asked if he would ever appear on BBCās Strictly Come Dancing to make a trifecta of reality TV shows, Andy said: āNo, I doubt it.ā He explained: āWeāre not allowed to do it. Itās BBC so unless you leave Corrie, then you canāt.ā He added: āEllie Leach was on it last year, but she left Coronation Street. She was amazing.ā
Andy, however, admitted that there was one show that he would consider ā Big Brother. The 43-year-old said that he enjoyed watching his co-star Colson Smith, who plays Corrieās Craig Tinker, in the Celebrity Big Brother reboot earlier this year, as he added: āIāve always liked Big Brother.ā
Referring to the diet he endured while appearing on Iām a Celeb, the soap star joked: āAnd you donāt have to starve do you in Big Brother.ā
