Emmerdale star Danny Miller has expressed his hope for a fitting conclusion to the storyline involving Tom King and Belle Dingle. Miller, who plays Aaron Dingle, wants to see Tom face real justice for his actions. The ITV soap has been tackling the issue of domestic abuse, with Tom and Belle’s tumultuous relationship taking center stage. Viewers are eagerly waiting for Belle’s family to realize the abuse she is enduring, with Charity Dingle being the only one so far to voice concern.
In an interview with Digital Spy at the Radio Times Soap Awards on Saturday, July 13th, Danny discussed the possibility of his character, Aaron, getting involved in the storyline. He hinted that it’s not likely at this stage, saying, “Aaron’s a Dingle but sort of detached from Belle. As a viewer, I’d love to sort out Tom, but I’m sure it will be resolved soon.” He added that it would be satisfying to see Tom receive real justice rather than just a physical confrontation.
Emmerdale’s producer Laura Shaw recently shared that the Tom and Belle storyline still has a few months left to run. Speaking to Digital Spy and other media outlets last month, Shaw explained, “From the beginning, we wanted to tell this story truthfully and authentically for those subjected to domestic abuse. It’s not something that resolves in a couple of weeks; it goes on for a long time. We wanted to be truthful to that.” Shaw indicated that the storyline is expected to continue until the end of the year and that the team has a clear idea of how it will conclude, with some new twists and turns added along the way.
The Radio Times Soap Awards took place at the Midland Hotel in Manchester on Saturday evening, July 13th. Emmerdale won two awards: Lisa Riley for Best Comedy Performance and Chris Chittell receiving the Special Recognition Award.
