Former Coronation Street star Amanda Barrie has taken to social media to assure fans that she’s fine after a tweet left some users of X, formerly known as Twitter, concerned.

The actress, who is best known for her role as Alma Halliwell on the ITV soap, tweeted on July 17: ‘By’.

Fans were left worried about what the tweet meant and thus were quick to reach out, offering Amanda their support.

‘I hope your OK,’ replied social media user Nancy at the time, while James added: ‘Amanda, are you ok?’.

The former cobbles star has now spoken out as she took to social media to put everyone’s minds at rest.

‘I seem to have done it again,’ she said in a reply to her initial tweet. ‘Last time it was ‘no’, this time it’s ‘by’.

‘Both times achieved this by phone disappearing down bed. Must have done it with my toes! Thank you everybody for your concern.

‘You can’t get rid of me that easily. Love you all. X’

The Bad Girls star received support from fans, who were pleased that she’s doing okay. ‘I’m so glad you’re ok,’ said one social media user with three heart emojis. ‘carry on smiling.’

Lynn, meanwhile, wrote: ‘Thank goodness x Glad all is well.’

Amanda played Alma Halliwell – also Sedgewick/Baldwin – on Coronation Street between 1981 and 1982 before
Alma, as longtime fans will know, ran the café with her friend Gail Tilsley (Helen Worth) before selling it to Roy Cropper (David Neilson).

Later she found herself in the middle of the long-running feud between Mike Baldwin (Johnny Briggs) and Ken Barlow (William Roache) as the two men fought over her.

Alma died of cervical cancer in 2001 in heartbreaking scenes, with Audrey Roberts (Sue Nicholls), Mike Baldwin and other friends by her side.
