Legendary 90s TV stars confront one another in heated clash

Coronation Street icons Bruce Jones and Steven Arnold have come head to head in the wrestling ring once again.

The last few months have seen the actors, who are best known for their roles as Les Battersby and Ashley Peacock in the ITV soap, take part in a number of tournaments in the Greater Manchester area.

Bruce, 71, wowed 200 spectators at Manchester’s Trinity Sports Centre in February, in a truly bizarre twist that is worlds away from his alter-ego – who was more at home squabbling with pensioners on the cobbled street.

It was then confirmed that he’d face off with Steven on May 6th, and due to the success of the event, they appeared again together last night (21st July).

The first event was teased in a video showing Steven in character as Ashley.

Steven Arnold and Bruce Jones dragging a man by their legs

‘Les – you can run and hide all you want. We both know what you’ve done and I’m not having it. Don’t dare say it wasn’t you, because I know

it was’ he began.Steven Arnold and Bruce Jones fighting in Manchester

‘You think you’ve got a gang? You think that the LBWO (Les Battersby World Order) is a gang? Well I’ll show you a gang Battersby – get ready for the Butcher Club you cheeky little monkey.’

Steven was part of the show for fifteen years before his character was killed off during the epic and unforgettable tram crash episodes that were made to commemorate fifty years of the show fourteen years ago.

Why exactly Ashley has turned from afterlife to thug life remains to be seen, but we’re here for it.

In new pictures released from the event, the men can be seen snarling at one another before the tag match between the LBWO and OABC (Our Ashley’s Butchers Club).

Whilst Bruce won, it was all smiles and hugs afterwards.

Isn’t it great to see the two men reunited?
