EASTENDERS fans have been left unimpressed by a new attempt at a friends to lovers storyline.
Recent episodes saw Callum left behind by family members as daughter Lexi flew out to the US to visit
his husband Ben in lockup.

Callum previously promised to wait for his partner as he served time for credit card fraud in an American jail.
While mourning missing out on the special reunion, Callum was invited to hit the town for a night out with his friend Jonny.
He was initially eager for a distraction from his misery, and agreed to meet up.
But when Billy made a joke implying there was something more going on between Callum and Jonny, he was shocked to realise other Weatherfield locals thought it was a date.

He quickly canceled their plans, reinforcing fans’ opinions that he is not over Ben.
Viewers were left annoyed by the suggestion that Callum would consider leaving his husband of several years.
One person groaned: “I’m not here for the Callum Johnny Romance.”
Another pleaded: “Can they stop with the Callum and Johnny stuff?”

Callum and Ben had a turbulent start to their relationship, as the pair got caught up in a moment of passion while Callum was engaged to Whitney.
Their one night stand made Callum realise he was gay and although he tried to go ahead with his straight wedding, Whitney left him at the altar, saying she couldn’t allow him to live a lie.
After many false starts where the pair rowed over Ben’s criminal activities, the men eventually got married and moved in together.
