Former Coronation Street favourite Shayne Ward is said to be lacing up his dancing shoes

for the upcoming series of Strictly Come Dancing. The Ex-X-Factor winner went

onto acting after taking first in the singing show, but now his dancing skills are set to get tested.

Shayne played Aidan Connor in the ITV soap, but he’s now set to take a spin on the dance floor, leaving the acting and singing spotlight momentarily behind. Insiders hope his previous success with the vote on the X-Factor could lead him to dancing glory, reports the Mirror.

A source told The Sun: “Shayne is a previous winner of an audience-voted talent show so will have high hopes of doing it again. He is excited to begin training. He has some dancing experience so could be a contender for the glitterball trophy. He also has a whopping fan base from his years as a Coronation Street hunk.”

Shayne’s rumoured casting comes after Olympic swimmer Tom Dean confirmed he was taking part in the 2024 series of Strictly. Tom made the announcement after reaching the final of the men’s 200 metres individual medley earlier this week in Paris.

He said: “Naturally you want to take a break after you’ve had a full Olympic cycle and the opportunity arose. I thought it would be really exciting to try something a bit different. I’ll be doing that and straight back into training after it. It’s something to look forward to.”

The casting rumours follow a turbulent time for Strictly which has become embroiled in bullying allegations. The show will return to screens as expected this autumn.
