Corrie Joel Deeringâs downfall could be near as an unlikely cobbles resident makes
a rather suspicious discovery next week. Coronation Street baddie Joel Deering
could be set to get caught out. The creepy lawyer (Calum Lill) â who made his ITV soap debut
last year â is in the midst of Corrieâs biggest storylines of the year. Earlier this year, it was revealed that Joel was behind the disappearance of Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton).
The troubled youngster went missing in February â and was presumed dead. Sadly, soap legend Roy Cropper (David Neilson) found himself arrested for her murder â much to the shock of Weatherfield residents.
It was later confirmed that Joel brutally attacked Lauren â before leaving her for dead. And in scenes aired last week, his sinister and true colours were exposed after Lauren made her shock return to the soap.
A series of flashbacks throughout the episode showed viewers the truth behind Laurenâs disappearance and her relationship with Joel.
The nasty solicitor wormed his way into Laurenâs life after helping her out with bills, eventually coercing her into a sexual relationship.
Lauren managed to flee from Joel at the end of the episode â but next week, it appears that Joelâs downfall could be happening soon.
As fans will recall, Joel is engaged to Dee Dee Bailey (Channique Sterling-Brown) who is oblivious to his psychopathic ways â and the pair are planning to move in together.
And spoilers next week reveal that Dee-Deeâs brother Michael (Ryan Russell) and Uncle Ronnie (Vinta Morgan) offer to help Joel move a chest of drawers from his old flat to Dee-Deeâs.
Joel gets Lauren out of the flat by giving her money to go shopping. However, as Michael helps Joel with the chest of drawers, Ronnie takes a look in the fridge. He then discovers and remarks that itâs packed with ready meals for one.
Meanwhile later on in the week, and at Joelâs flat, Joel promises to a bored Lauren sheâll be on her way to Ireland within a week.
It comes as Lauren actress Cait shared that Lauren could have her âhappily ever afterâ as the soap will reach an âend pointâ when Joel faces his âcomeuppance.â
Speaking to Express.co.uk and other press at Radio Times Soap Awards on Saturday, Cait, 22, said: âIâd like to hope she [Lauren] will have a happily ever after. Because when you do things like this that are so intense, I think itâs quite hard.â
When asked if Joel will get his comeuppance, Cait replied: âI hope so! I really, really hope so. I think with anything when youâre a villain thereâs always an end point.
âBut I think with doing a storyline like this, girls like Lauren need justice. Especially because itâs still happening today â grooming and exploitation, itâs still all happening today.â
