BREAKING NEWS: ITV Coronation Street star teases shock return from the dead as future storyline ‘revealed’

A Coronation Street legend has teased his return to the ITV soap –

five years after his character was killed off. Nigel Havers played conman Lewis Archer

on-off from 2009 until the character died in 2019. Lewis dropped dead of

a heart attack just before he got down on one knee to propose to Audrey Roberts on a New Year episode. In surprise scenes, Lewis was found lying on the floor while clutching his engagement ring for Audrey.

There has always been talk about him potentially returning to the ITV soap – and today, as he made an appearance on Good Morning Britain, hosts Ranvir Singh and Ed Balls quizzed him about a possible return.

As they ended their interview, host Ranvir said to him: “Politics, Olympics, the Royals- there’s nothing you can’t do! We didn’t even talk about Corrie – we always talk about Corrie!” before he replied: “We always talk about Corrie. You never know I may come back!”

It’s not the first time he has discussed a return to the show. Chatting with Rylan Clark on This Morning, Nigel quipped of his character: “I had a heart attack and died!” to which host Rylan Clark pointed out: “That means nothing in soap!”

Nigel then added: “I have a twin brother living inAustralia…” to which Rylan joked: “Here we go, [This Morning soap queen] Sharon Marshall is already on the phone! Would you ever go back if they came up with something like that?” The actor didn’t answer straight away but did admit: “Of course, never ever say never, we’re mad to do that!”

Nigel’s character was also linked to Helen Worth’s character Gail Platt. Could a return be linked in with Gail’s exit storyline?

Speaking about her decision to leave later this year, Helen said: “This year felt like the perfect time to leave the show after celebrating 50 years in the most wonderful job on the most wonderful street in the world.

“I made the decision at the start of the year and spoke to the producers who were very kind and understanding. I have been truly blessed to have been given the most incredible scripts week in week out, and to have worked with fantastic actors, directors and a brilliant crew. The past 50 years have flown by and I don’t think the fact that I am leaving has quite sunk in yet.”
