Emmerdale’s Jai Sharma is set to take revenge on Eric Pollard as he struggles after his split from Laurel Thomas. The past few months have been challenging for Jai, especially after the arrival of his biological father, Amit, in the village last March. Jai had teamed up with Eric to prove that Amit was involved in Rishi Sharma’s tragic death. After a tense confrontation, Amit admitted to killing Rishi to gain the family inheritance.
Following Amit’s departure, Eric began blackmailing Jai, demanding free food and drink at The Hide in exchange for his silence about their scheme. Jai’s troubles worsened when he broke up with his wife, Laurel, earlier this month. Their split came after disagreements over Amit’s departure and Jai’s betrayal of his half-brother, Sonny.
In scenes set to air next week, the aftermath of Laurel and Jai’s split continues to affect both households. Initially in denial over Laurel’s decision to end things, Jai is forced to accept the breakup. In an attempt to cope with his pain, a bitter Jai decides to expose his recent schemes with Eric to a disappointed Brenda and Rodney.
Actor Chris Bisson, who plays Jai, spoke earlier this year about his character’s dark turn following his revenge on Amit. “This has changed something inside him,” Bisson said. “Going forward, the way he views life, people, and relationships may well be affected. Certainly, the way he treats business will probably be affected too. I think he is going to become a bit more ruthless. He feels he has been taken for a fool, and he feels like that is never going to happen again.”
How will Eric react once Jai exposes the truth? And will this darker side of Jai continue to influence his actions in the village? Stay tuned to find out.
