Filming for second season of ‘Yellowstone’ prequel ‘1923’ to continue near Austin

After filming scenes in Austin and Lockhart, the prequel to “Yellowstone” now plans to film more in Central Texas this month.

Scenes for the prequel, Taylor Sheridan’s “1923,” will be filmed on Aug. 19-20 in Bartlett, about 50 miles north of Austin. The western saga is filming for its second season.

The upcoming “1923” filming locations and dates were revealed in a July 31 post by Legacy Casting, in a search for men, women and children to play background roles in the show. Roles for Aug. 19 include sheriff’s deputies, men in suits, women townsfolk, construction workers, servers and a bartender. Filming for Aug. 20 needs men in suits, women townsfolk, kid townsfolk, female switchboard operators, U.S. soldiers and Comanche men, women and children.

There will be a required fitting in Austin paid at $35. Men interested in the roles must be willing to shave or alter facial hair and trim or cut hair to mimic 1920s trends. Individuals in the roles cannot have visible tattoos on hands, forearms, neck or face, and all jewelry must be removable.
