Emmerdale’s Cain Dingle actor, Jeff Hordley, has hinted that Tom King’s downfall is imminent, with an exit from the ITV soap likely on the horizon for the villain. Tom King, portrayed as a coercive and violent abuser, is expected to face his comeuppance soon, as suggested by both cast members and showrunners.
Jeff Hordley, speaking to the Mirror and other press, addressed the harrowing storyline involving Tom and Belle Dingle. Upcoming episodes promise dramatic scenes where the truth about Tom’s abuse might finally come to light. Tom has been isolating and controlling Belle for months, escalating his coercive behavior to violence. Hordley’s seven-word admission, “This is what we have to see,” underscores the necessity of Tom facing justice, hinting at the villain’s exit from the show.
James Chase, who plays Tom, has also discussed the character’s limited time on the show. When asked if Tom would get his comeuppance, Jeff responded affirmatively, emphasizing the importance of the storyline. He highlighted that such coercive behaviors often unfold over extended periods, not just a few months, making it essential to portray it accurately.
Teasing Cain’s potential revenge on Tom for harming Belle, Jeff stated, “It’s his little sister. If someone hurts his little sister, there’s no saying what Cain would do.” This statement hints at the lengths Cain might go to protect Belle and seek justice.
Jeff also reflected on Cain’s character development. Once disliked by viewers, Cain is now seen as a hero who steps in to save others, albeit in his unique way. He acknowledged Tom’s cunning nature, noting how the villain has masked his true behavior well, leaving the audience in suspense about his ultimate fate.
