Ever since Dawn and Billy Fletcher brought their infant son Evan home from the Emmerdale hospital, Dawn has been extremely careful to keep Evan away from infections. Evan has leukemia, and due to his weak immune system, even mild infections could become life-threatening. Dawn has ensured that the family limits their social interactions. Gabby and Thomas have moved out, Lucas and Clemmie are homeschooling, and the rest of the family is expected to follow social distancing rules and avoid inviting strangers home.
Billy has struggled with feeling pushed away by Dawn and believing that nothing he does is good enough. In addition to dealing with Evan’s condition, Billy accidentally missed giving Evan a dose of his medication, which added to his stress. Seeking a release, Billy went out for drinks with Nate Robinson. The family bubble was eventually burst when Nate had to help a drunk Billy return home. Kim was the only one who knew about this and covered for Billy by telling Dawn that he was working on a project for her that evening. Unfortunately, Evan became feverish and had to be transported back to the hospital due to an infection.
Dawn was curious about who had brought the infection into the house. Kim took the blame, claiming she had contracted an infection during a business meeting at a hotel bar. This upset the family, particularly with Kim’s apparent selfishness. In upcoming episodes, Billy will realize he can no longer remain silent as Kim grows more isolated within the family. He confesses to Dawn that it was actually him, not Kim, who introduced the sickness into the house after getting drunk with Nate.
How will Dawn react to this revelation? Will she forgive Billy for his actions and the deceit? Stay tuned to find out how this confession will impact their relationship and the dynamics within the family.
