Reiss Colwell will find himself in trouble next week on EastEnders – when he makes an enemy of Phil Mitchell.

The initially unsuspecting resident killed his wife Debbie in shocking scenes last week, with the police getting involved in her passing. Next week, Reiss continues to panic about the post-mortem results, and if they’ll reveal she died from being suffocated.

Whilst Sonia tries to reassure him that the post-mortem is routine, he panics. Elsewhere, Eve sees Reiss with Debbie’s wedding ring in the café – and the pressure to get money only amps up when Phil demands a return on his fake investment. He gives Reiss 24 hours to get the money, but how is he going to raise that much cash in such a short time? He lies to Sonia – but what’s his next move?

Actor Jonny Freeman recently confessed that Reiss was still “optimistic” despite getting himself into deeper debt.

He said: “He’s scrambling around but he’s optimistic that it’s all going to work out. I think there’s optimism, but also naivety, and obviously as things start to creak and crumble, Reiss starts to realise that he’s doing things for desperate measure. I suppose through all of it, he’s losing a sense of his moral compass as he’s trying to do right by Debbie, and he’s also trying to do right by Sonia.”

Phil isn’t the only person Reiss has tried to scam, with Sharon also having been a target.

Whatever happens next, Reiss might find himself in a lot of trouble if Phil learns the truth of what really happened to his money. Phil – played by Steve McFadden – isn’t someone to mess with – but has Reiss sealed his own fate?
