Emmerdale star Emma Atkins has hinted that she may take a year away from the soap in the future.
The actor has played the role of Charity Dingle on and off for nearly two
and a half decades, though explained in a new interview that she would
like a bit of a break at some point to do other things outside the show.
“I might take a year out at some point in the future – do some travelling,
do other jobs – but at the moment I’m here to stay,” she told My Weekly.

“As long as they’re writing brilliant stuff for my character and I love playing her, I don’t feel the need to go off and do anything else.’
Emma went on to recall a previous break from the show in the 2000s, describing it as “a good period of time to learn more about acting”.
“When I got invited back into Emmerdale, I thought, I can make this an even better character now,” she added.

In other news, Emma recently spoke about Emmerdale characters Cain and Moira Dingle’s rough patch in their marriage, suggesting the couple will make it through.
“I do think it’s brilliant, because they’re so different that they work as a yin-yang,” she told Digital Spy and other media.
“Whereas I think with Charity and Cain there would probably be too much friction, because they’re from a similar stock. Whereas Moira has that sort of morally upstanding nature.
“I wouldn’t want to change their dynamic, but I’d love to work with Jeff Hordley and Natalie Robb. She’s amazing. In fact, my mum said to me the other day, ‘Isn’t she a brilliant actress?'”
Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV1, and streams on ITVX.
