### Y&R Comings and Goings: Katie Newman & Johnny Abbott are Back!

Katie Newman, a familiar face on The Young & The Restless, is set to bring more drama to Genoa City. For those

new to the show, here’s a quick rundown of Katie’s eventful past.

Katie, whose full name is Katherine “Katie” Rose Abbott Newman, is the daughter of Victoria Newman and Billy

Abbott. Her paternity was initially uncertain due to Victoria’s involvement with both Billy and Stitch Rayburn

around the same time. Despite considering a paternity test, Victoria avoided it due to the stress from Billy and Stitch’s secrets, particularly given her high-risk pregnancy.

Katie’s dramatic birth took place during Nick and Sharon’s wedding. Mistaking labor pains for false contractions, Victoria ended up giving birth in Jabot Cosmetics’ parking garage after being locked in a storage closet by Stitch’s mother, Maureen Russell. With Billy and Stitch’s help, Victoria delivered Katie and named her after her godmother, Katherine Chancellor.

A paternity test later confirmed Billy as Katie’s father, leaving Stitch heartbroken. Despite this, Stitch reconciled with Victoria and moved in, becoming Katie’s stepfather. Jack Abbott and Abby Newman were named her godparents during her christening. A significant incident occurred when Nikki Newman almost dropped Katie while taking pictures, using her Multiple Sclerosis as an excuse to cover her drinking problem. Victoria warned Nikki to seek help or risk losing access to her granddaughter.

Katie’s young life has seen several dramatic events. In 2015, during a Halloween party at the Newman Towers, a fire broke out. Kevin Fisher and Mariah Copeland heroically led the children, including Katie and her brother Johnny Abbott, to safety. In 2019, Katie started talking to an imaginary friend. When she went missing, her family found her in a secret room at the Newman Ranch with surveillance equipment, suspecting J.T. Hellstrom of spying.

In early 2020, Billy and Victoria broke the news of their separation to Katie and Johnny. Later that year, Katie had a severe allergic reaction to a bee sting. Billy rushed her to the New Hope Clinic, where she was treated by Nate and Elena. Victoria felt guilty for not knowing about Katie’s allergy, but Billy reassured her. That Christmas, Katie and the family were relieved when charges against Billy for shooting Chase were dropped, allowing him to spend the holiday with them.

In 2021, Katie and Johnny bonded with Billy’s new girlfriend, Lily Winters, sparking jealousy in Victoria. The children enjoyed visiting their rooms at Billy and Lily’s new apartment but were less enthusiastic about Victoria’s new boyfriend, Ashland Locke. Katie and Johnny were later sent to boarding school, sparing them from the fallout of Victoria and Ashland’s relationship.

In June 2024, Katie returned from boarding school with Johnny, only to meet their new sister, Claire Howard. Victoria and Cole Howard had recently discovered Claire had been stolen from them at birth. The upheaval continued when Claire’s Aunt Jordan burned down their home, forcing the family to live in the tack house, which upset Katie and led to a dramatic storming off.
