As the first baby to be born in the BBC1 soap, Martin Fowler holds a special place in everyone’s hearts. Martin’s role on the show is currently played by James Bye. His character being used as a spare part has left the fans devastated, and they have voiced their concerns social media platforms.
One of the fans wrote, “I feel sorry for James, who plays Martin Fowler. It’s a joke that Martin is getting shoved behind. I just hope James doesn’t quit out of boredom. I will be gutted if this happens. Please, bosses, give Martin some storylines.” Another said, “I don’t think the writers know what to do with him. He seems like a spare part.”
However, after a thread of missing James comments, others offered potential explanations on the matter. One of the supporters said, “I know that his wife had a baby this time last year – it could well be that James Bye has been on a reduced filming schedule as part of a pre-agreed paternity arrangement for the last 12 months.”

He took over the role of Martin in 2014, and became the third actor to play this part. As for his current stint on EastEnders, Martin married Stacey Slater and later divorced her. He shares a daughter with her, Hope. In his real life, Martin actor James participated in the 20th series of Strictly Come Dancing with Molly Rainford.
